Join NYCB Principal Dancer and world-renowned educator Daniel Ulbricht, alongside Magnus, photographer at MAGNUS PHOTOGRAPHY, for an exclusive photoshoot experience designed to capture your very best as a dancer.
PROJECTING POTENTIAL is about showcasing not only your technical ability but also your unique artistry and promise as a dancer.
Daniel will personally pose, coach, and choreograph each participant — ensuring that every position, line, and moment reflects your individuality. Together, Daniel and Magnus will create audition-perfect images and dynamic choreography photos that will make you stand out.
WHAT TO EXPECT THAT DAY
Each PROJECTING POTENTIAL photoshoot session includes 50 minutes of dedicated studio time, divided into two creative parts.

ARRIVAL
Arrive 10 minutes before your session, wearing your audition outfit under your street clothes.
You’ll have a few minutes to change, warm up quietly at the barre, and prepare.

🩰 PART 1 - AUDITION PHOTOS
Daniel will select and coach your individual audition poses, ensuring each is technically correct and photographically refined.
Typical audition photos include:
•Headshot
•Arabesque
•Tendu à la seconde
•Fourth position en demi-pointe or en pointe

Additional poses may include à la seconde en l’air or parallel side-facing positions — depending on your specific program requirements.
Typically, up to eight audition poses are completed during the session.

This is the exciting and expressive part — where artistry takes center stage!
In this section, Daniel will choreograph custom poses and sequences based on your strengths and level, capturing the freedom and joy of movement.

(If your audition section is shorter, your choreography time will be longer. The total studio time is 50min including outfit/shoe changes.)

Your PROJECTING POTENTIAL photoshoot session includes:

•Custom choreography created by Daniel for your open choreography session
•Professional studio photography, expert retouching, and color correction by Magnus
•Digital delivery of up to 8 full-resolution audition images* — a $240 value included in your session
•Private online gallery access to your choreography images, where you can order additional digital downloads or high-quality prints (starting at $15)

💰 WHAT TO PREPARE
FOR YOUR AUDITION PHOTOS
•Leotard: Plain-colored, simple cut (no skirts, lace, or multiple straps). Avoid white; darker tones photograph best.
•Tights: Pink or skin-tone (bring a spare pair!)
•Shoes: Clean ballet flats and a broken-in pair of pointe shoes* (please do not bring brand-new pointe shoes, as you will not be able to get on the box immediately/correctly, and it will look in the photos that you are not flexible enough!).
•Hair: Neat, tight bun — no ribbons, scrunchies, or visible clips.
•Tights: Pink or skin-tone (bring a spare pair!)

•Leotard: you may change into a different leotard, tulle skirt, or romantic/platter tutu.
•Hair may remain up or be styled down for variety.
•Accessories or ribbons may be added for creative flair.
